My Eagle Project Description.

For my Eagle Project I will organize and direct my fellow scouts in repainting the address numbers on the driveway or street immediately in front of houses in the Woodlake community. Woodlake is a developed housing community of 132 homes. I have created an informational flyer with a permission form to be distributed to each house. The flyers will be distributed approximately two weeks before the date we paint. On the day of the project, I plan to first paint a white backdrop and use stencils and black paint for the numbers. The painting portion of this project can be completed in one day.

At the present time, there are street numbers for a majority of houses in the Woodlake community, but these numbers have become dull and faded, rendering them ineffective. We will notify the community members by way of an informational flyer and thus gain their permission. We will need reflective white street paint to make a backdrop for the numbers, number stencils, and black spray paint. The flyers can be distributed in an hour's time during the week. The painting will take longer. I expect the backdrop painting will take about three hours with three crews of three taking different areas. After the white paint is dry, the black numbers can be spray painted on in three hours also. As we will be working on a street, local traffic and cars become an issue. To ensure every scout's safety, they will carry traffic cones and use them to mark off the working area.

This project will benefit the Woodlake community and anyone who visits there. Easily seen and visible address numbers are imperative for emergency and fire response teams to see, but they’re also convenient for people unfamiliar with the area to find a specific house quickly. The numbers are unobtrusive and compliment each house by the additional safety.
