Cape Alava.

Here's the story. Tim, Derek, Adam, and I wanted to go for a little campout. We didn't want to do anything big, just an overnighter so we could get away from UP for a night and not have to miss any school. We decided on Cape Alava based on recommendations of Bro. White and Bro. Jolley. We left almost right after school of Friday, March 23 and Tim drove the nearly 4 hour drive straight through. When we got to the trailhead at Lake Ozette, it was already dark. That didn't stop us from reaching the beach at Sandy Point that night, though. The trip to the beach was about 3 miles, almost all on boardwalk without any big hills. I wanted to sleep under the stars, but by the time we got to the beach it was cloudy :-( We slept in a little in the morning, but we were on our way soon enough. It was another 3 mile hike on the beach and we had to cross over some higher land where there was no beach. Then we reached Cape Alava, which really stank, literally. It smelled bad there. I'm glad we decided not to camp there. Then, it was another 3 miles on boardwalk through the swamp back the the car. It was about 9 miles round-trip, but very easy. We had a lot of fun.
